The railway crossing was closed to traffic from April 20th, with an alternative route suggested: vehicles going from Mirzapur to Chunar are directed to use Baraunda intersection, Muhkuchwa, and the Mirzapur bypass, with the same route used for the return journey. Light and two-wheeled vehicles are suggested to use the Baraunda-Muhkuchwa left-side link road to Amghat. However, this alternate route is damaged, with the Garbada Devi Temple-Rajpur-Muhkuchwa route in a poor condition, containing 18 speed breakers in just 1km from the temple to the Rajpur canal, causing traffic jams. Residents complain that the alternative route should have been repaired before closing the Amghat bridge. The damaged road leads to delays, especially for schoolchildren in the mornings.

Log keh rahe hai ki Amghat bridge band karne se pehle kharab route ko theek karna chahiye tha. Road kharab hone ki wajah se subah school jaane walon ko der ho jaati hai.
