Now that it is a rule to carry ID proof during the journey in all the reserved classes, is it necessary to produce the same (like in tatkal scheme) at the time of booking a normal ticket?
no id proof reqd while booking a general ticket

a little time ago i was informed by a reservation clerk that it is reqd while booking the ticket...???
You need to give a copy of the ID Card (the same ID that you intend to travel with) along with your reservation form at the time of Tatkal Reservation only
