I don't get why it's so repetitive, man. There ain't no direct train from MDU to SA in the morning. TN MYS, SMVT NCJ, Balaji chalukya – all those are overnighters. In the daytime, you can only catch a weekly connection. Madurai to Salem is 220 kms via Karur namakkal. TN MYS itself goes a long way through ED. When there's a bus every 5 mins on the shortest route, why bother with a train that goes over 90 kms and takes more than 2 hours, costing like SF/Express a lot? One of the planned VB trains is from Madurai to Bengaluru, which might run a day train to MDU from SA, but not everyone can be accommodated on such a train. In light of that, this MEMU aims to serve all the middle folks, with an end-to-end journey in mind considering the OMNI bus that makes a non-stop 4.5-5 hrs trip in a day. This train timetable makes it enticing for people to choose trains over the road. If just 10% of the current road users switch to this train, it can easily fill up to 6 coaches with ease. With daily users in mind, it could even go for 16 coaches, helping with the transfer crowd in Salem and the festival crowd in Madurai, Palani, Namakkal, and Salem. It also assists those heading to Bangalore by connecting to the KIK SBC express. Why should any ordinary person even care about the Railways' economy? It's funded by taxpayer money, they're here to serve. Whatever losses occur, the government will handle. Instead of spending millions expanding road networks, rail connectivity saves the economy in the long haul, dude.
