Experts suggest that the accident could have been prevented if the derailment of the freight train had been reported at Rajkharsawan and Barabambo stations. A delay in stopping the train, traveling at a speed of 110 km/h, would have prevented the incident and saved the lives of two passengers. Inspections by different departments have revealed that the freight train wagons had been dragging for about half a kilometer before they derailed. The railway supervisor from Chakradharpur is conducting an internal investigation into the causes of the accident. The senior locomotive pilot of the Howrah-Mumbai Mail has given his statement to the railway supervisor's team in Chakradharpur. The Railway Safety Commissioner may summon the employees and officials to Kolkata headquarters for further questioning after the onsite investigation.
