The Indian Railways is preparing to extend three trains to Barhni, a town in Siddharthnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. at Gorakhpur Junction, which has been facing increasing pressure from a growing number of trains. The Gorakhpur-Asansol Express is also being considered for extension to Bahraich. This would create a direct train connection to Bahraich, which currently requires passengers to change trains at Gonda. The extensions will not only improve connectivity for passengers but also alleviate congestion at Gorakhpur Junction.

platform space bhi khali ho jaayega, kyunki bahut saari trains aati jaati hain aur space kam pad raha hai. Gorakhpur-Asansol Express ko Bahraich tak extend karne pe bhi socha ja raha hai. Isse Bahraich tak direct train connection mil jaayega, jisko aajkal Gonda pe train badalni padti hai. Yeh extension se passengers ko accha connectivity milega aur Gorakhpur Junction pe bheed bhi kam ho jaayegi.
