Previously, the app allowed bookings only within a 20 km radius of the station. The removal of this restriction will make it easier for passengers to buy tickets on their phones, even when they are already at the station. This change also eliminates the need for 5km radius restriction for platform tickets, allowing passengers to purchase them through the app even outside the station. This move by the railways is intended to promote paperless ticketing and increase the utility of the UTS app.
