The incident occurred because Vinay was enraged over his ex-girlfriend's marriage to Mahendra and had earlier attempted to frame Mahendra by shooting himself in the hand on November 1, 2023. Following the crash, villagers apprehended Vinay, who tried to flee the scene, and beat him up before police arrived to take him into custody.
