Shatabdi Express is having 18 coaches.
So if they want then they can run Kalka Mail with 18 LHB coaches then Pantry Car , 3 Sleeper, 1 3rd AC and 1 Second AC coach has to be removed.

How about reduce 12311/12 to 16 coaches Fully AC rake (with combination of 1AC, 2AC, 3AC, 3AC Economy), and run 12329/30 WB SK Exp upto CDG for 4-5 days a week - to make up with good combination of Sleepers and Unreserved coaches?
I see noone ever raising the point about WB being the only state in India with just a weekly Sampark Kranti train! (Why 4/5 days is so that North Bengal / NJP also can have parallel run for remaining 2/3 days of North Bengal Sampark Kranti).

Thanx. Kalka Mail is only connection to Kalka from various cities of Uttar Pradesh (Ghaziabad , Aligarh, Firozabad etc.) and these Cities will loose NON AC connection with Kalka due to this step.
In that case, if at all this train were to become a 16 coacher, even then it would be reduced to just 2-3 Sleepers (from currently 10)... much like Upasana/Kumbh, would it be of much help - given the quantum of rush on this train?
Because given the current infrastructure around Kalka railway station, it's frankly quite herculean to construct platforms there now for 22 coach trains. For standard 22 coach LHB rake, it'll have to be short terminated at CDG, which again some of our forum members were saying wouldn't be...

Only possible option is to have a connecting train to Kalka which should be available at CDG at the parallel platform.
