In view of the Railway Budget 2012-13, Government of Kerala proposes the following matters, identified to be essential for the proper development of Railways in the State, to the Union Government for inclusion in the Railway Budget 2012-13.

• A daily Express train from Thiruvananthapuram to New Delhi;
• An Express train from Thiruvananthapuram to Hyderabad;
• A daily train from Kochuveli to Bangalore;
• A daily Superfast train from Kochuveli to Secunderabad;
• An Express train from Kollam to Ajmer;
• An Express train from Kollam to Goa;
• An Express train from Kollam to Velankanni;
• A daily Express train to Mumbai from Thiruvananthapuram through the Konkan railway line;
• An Express train from Mangalore to Hyderabad;
• A train connecting Calicut to Vasco;
• A night Express from Kannur to Thiruvananthapuram;
• A train to Guruvayoor via Kottayam;
• A train A train via Kayamkulam & Kottayam to Coimbatore ;
• An Intercity between Calicut and Erode;
• A train from Mangalore to Madurai;
• Train from Punalur to Thiruvananthapuram;
• A Goa-Chennai train via Konkan;
• Train for Beypore-Calicut connectivity;
• Passenger train from Kannur to Mangalore;
• Passenger train from Calicut to Mangalore;
• MEMU services between Palakkad and Ernakulam;
• MEMU services between Palakkad and Mangalore;
• MEMU services between Kollam and Nagercoil;
• MEMU services in Thiruvananthapuram-Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram-Ernakulam routes;
• A daytime train from Nilambur to Coimbatore;
• New trains for connecting the State with the North Indian states of Gujarat, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh etc.
• Twelve trains were announced in the Railway Budget 2011-12. Of these, Ernakulam-Bangalore weekly Super fast Express, Dibrugarh-Kanyakumari Express, Rajya - Rani Express, Bhav Nagar-Kochuveli Express, Bilaspur –Ernakulam Superfast, and Mangalore-Palakkad Intercity have started services. The services of the remaining trains are to be started urgently.
Extensions of existing trains, described below may be provided for in the Railway Budget 2012-13:
• Yashwantpur Express may be extended to Puttaparthi from Yashwantpur.
• Mumbai-Ernakulam and New Delhi-Ernakulam Duronto Express train may be extended to Thiruvananthapuram;
• Bilaspur-Tirunelveli (12787/12788) and Bilaspur-Ernakulam (22815-22816) Super fast expresses may be extended to Ambikapur, where large number of Keralites are residing.
• Ernakulam-Kottayam passenger train may be extended to Kanyakumari;
• Ernakulam-Kannur Intercity train (16305-16306) may be extended to Mangalore;
• Alappuzha-Kannur Executive may be extended upto Mangalore;
• Yashwathpur-Kannur Express (16527-16528) via Palakkad may extended up to Mangalore;
• Ernakulam-Kottayam passenger at 7.00 p.m may be extended to Kayamkulam;
• Nagur-Velankanni Tea Garden train may be extended to Thiruvananthapuram;
• Madurai-Kollam train may be extended to Punalur;
• Mangala Express, idling at Ernakulam for more than 12 hours may be extended to Thiruvananthapuram;
• Passenger trains ending at Kayamkulam may be extended to Kollam;
• Passenger trains from Thiruvananthapuram, ending at Kayamkulam, may be extended to Kottayam;
The following conversion of existing trains and adjustments in train timings to optimize services may be provided for in the Railway Budget 2012-13:
• The Rajya Rani Express, from Nilambur to Thiruvananthapuram is running as a Link to Amritha Express. The Rajya Rani Express may be made an independent train;
• Yashwantpur (Bangalore) train from Kochuveli may be run on a daily basis;
• Chandigarh Sampark Kranti Express may be run on a daily basis;
• Thiruvananthapuram-Nizamuddin Rajadhani Express may be run on a daily basis;
• Calicut- Thiruvananthapuram Jan Satabdi may be made daily;
• Duronto to Ernakulam and Garib rath to Kochuveli may be run daily;
• Frequency of Garib Rath trains operating out of Kochuveli may be increased and timing adjusted such that trains arrive in Thiruvananthapuram on or before 10 a.m;
• Frequency of Maru Sagar Express may be increased to thrice in a week instead of once a week;
• Frequency of Madgaon Express may be increased;
• The timing of trains between Kollam and Punalur is not convenient for commuters. Trains may be re-scheduled and Madurai-Kollam passenger train may be extended to Punalur;
• The long distance trains may stop at Kochuveli so that at least one train stops in either direction every 30 min-1 hour, which will reduce congestion at Thiruvananthapuram Central station.
From the above, pls note that the Kerala Govt. has proposed the extension of 16527/16528 and 16305/16306 to MAQ and also extn from YPR to SSPN

Introduction of new trains, extension of trains, increasing their frequency, and delay in commencing the coach factory at Kanjikode and wagon component unit at Cherthala are to come up at a high-level meeting convened by Southern Railway for MPs from the State of KERALA here on January 28, 2013. meeting convened by General Manager of Southern Railway Rakesh Misra. All MPs from the State have been called for the meeting held at the Government Guest House at Thycaud.

Yes, naturally majority of MPs will skip this meeting and it will get postponed again and finally when none of the demands gets a mention in the Budget, they will make a big hue and cry about that.

Yes true. Very few MPs attended yesterdays meeting and even Chief Minister minister came for the meeting and returned back without attending the meeting stating the reason......it is not a high official meeting. The Railway budget is almost ready and might have gone for printing and our elected representatives are yet to decide what to be included in the budget.
