Yes, U can purchase sleep class ticket from the current booking counter for day travel.

there are two types of window on railway station
1 for unreserved tkt and other for reserved tickting
from unreserved window you can take only unreserved tkt here you cannot book reservation tkt.

No No Only unreserved sleeper class ticket may be purchased from unreserved ticket window for day journey only. But booking clerks generally are reluctant to issue un-reserved sleeper class tickets.
