Howrah Dhanbad coalfield express has WAP7 loco.the distance from Howrah to DHHANBAD is hardly 275 KM.so any specific reason for introducing WAP7 loco for such a close distance.

WAP-7 Locos are being alloted to GOMOH LOCO SHED because GMO is not at all far away from Chittranjan Locomotive Works . May be GMO Shed is on Grand Chord Line (DHN-GAYA) and the loco factory is on Main Line(MDU-PNBE) but still the distance between the 2 locations is not too far . There is a direct line between Gomoh Jn(Jharkhand State) & Chittranjan Jn(West Bengal-Jharkhand State Border) , so WAP-7 Locos can travel between their HOME Shed to their factory's workshop for Periodic Maintenance Overhaul and / or other repairs in a short time , by covering a short distance . But even I agree that one of the BEST locos of IR have got one of the worstly maintained loco sheds of Indian Railways . Only God knows how GMO Shed got an ISO Certificate . Thanks .
