before running it as independent this train was link to the Hubli-Bangalore Hampi express. Now after de- linking the name is still reatined!!!
when this train was introduced, it used to be attached to hampi express which is not the case now. So originally it was Hampi link, I guess few railway stations still mention it as that and many people do remember it like that including me.
