Departing from Agartala - Agartala-Lumding Exp. (Feb. 27, 2013) : We departed from Agartala half a minute behind schedule. Our sleeper coach was packed to the brim with short-distance travelers. Nevertheless, I was excited about an overnight MG journey.

Yes. The entire section from Agartala to Badarpur has been laid on BG sleepers in preparation for the conversion.

Parts of it I have seen while running parrallel near LMG...but I heard that the on-going BG construction is totally new route separate from the existing MG track...So whats the point in laying MG Rails again in the BG sleepers?

The separate BG alignment is only in the LMG-BPB section. The rest of the section till AGTL will have the same alignment (except for a BG bypass line for Karimganj).
