Introduce new weekly train from Mysore to Udhampur
As at present, there is no other train to Jammu&Kashmir from Karnataka(except Navyug from Mangalore), a new superfast express train shall be introduced from Mysore to Udhmpur via Bangalore, Secunderabad, Kazipet, Nagpur, Bhopal, New Delhi, Jalandhar & Jammu Tawi. The approximate distance for this train to cover will be around 3070km. Once the railway line is extended upto Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir, the train can be extended upto Srinagar/Baramulla. At present, there is only Navyug express(weekly) is connecting Karnataka with J&K, that also runs/serves via Kerala & Tamilnadu just after Mangalore. Bangalore is the only state capital in India(having broad gauge rail) without any train service to J&K.

As there are many Jawans serving the nation in J&K from Kodagu(Coorg), Mysore and other parts of Karnataka, it is really frustrating thing to have not even a single train to Kashmir. After the assigned duties in such a harsh weather conditions and among gunfires from both across the border and within the state, it is very mind relaxing day for any Jawan/officer to board a train to homeland. At present, they have to wait either at New Delhi/Nizamuddin or Chennai station for getting the connection trains to Karnataka. This is really frustrating. Sometimes, jawans are forced to wait even 24 hours at the intermediate stations for the next connecting train. Trains from Kashmir will be normally upto Delhi Jn(Old Delhi) or New Delhi. Most of the Bangalore trains are from Nizamuddin station. With all these luggage, they have to come to Nizamuddin station, some 10km away to get the next train. As there are many other passengers also with business in Bangalore/Mysore from J&K and Punjab, the proposed train will much beneficial for them also. In tourist sector also, tourists can travel directly upto Mysore from J&K. So, a new train shall be introduced to J&K from Mysore at the earliest.

reused for the return train. Rakes of some other long distance trains halting at Mysore has to be used for return journey. This is the most convenient timing for jawans working in J&K and the train shall be named after Field Marshal Express in honour of our late Army Chief Field Marshal K M Cariappa, who hails from Kodgu near Mysore. Other proposed name can be "HimRakshak Express", in tribute to those Jawans serving in Kashmir protecting the nation from snow falling mountains.
