which part of the current lumding-silchar section will be preserved for heritage run after the broad gauge starts operating

yeah . trains in bpb-scl section need lr @ bpb. after mg 2 bg conversion lr will not be needed. agtl-scl trains will be have lr @ bpb
railways should in principle decide to eliminate the concept of loco reversal if its possible........this will save a lot of time and will also help trains to go directly.....
i suppose BG slippers are in place with the existing MG tracks where the alignment is same......though MG trains suffer high wear and tear they are made to run on BG slippers......are the BG tracks also laid
I think the important difference is gradient, If BG trains are run with the same gradient, then the speed of the trains will come down significantly. You can see this kind of problems in Londa - Vasco and Hassan - Mangalore route. In Some cases railways may even have to run trains with 3 Engines.
