Himalayan Range & Kangchenjunga Peak...
.
This photo taken this morning from our Siliguri flat. Sorry for limitation of camera a good pice of photography/resolution is not available...
Though the Himalayan Range is seen in the backdrop with Kangchenjunga Peak... Kangchenjunga is the third highest mountain in the world.
.
...

Location is very near to Siliguri Town Station/SGUT... Siliguri Town Staion lies between the railway track connection New Jalpaiguri and
Siliguri Junction...
.
In this period of year Himalayan Range & Kangchenjunga is clearly visible from Siliguri City & rest of North Bengal...
.
Tourist coming to Darjeeling, Gangtok & Dooars can enjoy this scenic beauty...

Totally agree with your view point that un-authorise vendor is a menace to this track from New Jalpaiguri to Siliguri Junction...
Not only that Railway Gate near to Mahabirstan and Siliguri Town Station is changed into a mini Market... Very difficult for train movement...
.
Note the train movement has increased many folds in this stretch ... So doubling is needed fron NJP to
...
Siliguri Junction...
Lots of Goods train movement... 1/2 Goods starin are always seen standing in Siliguri Town Station waiting for their approach towards Siliguri Junction...
.
The Narrow gauge railway track running parallel to Broad Gauge from NJP to Siliguri Junction can be made dual gauge like Broad Gauge + Narrow gauge...

SIR then what is the use of constructing that flyover near Siliguri Town....??? Both Indian Railways & SJDA have invested crores in building, still that level crossing gate has not been removed...I think rly should permanently seal the gate...as we go little ahead towards SGUJ can see boundary walls, same walls or fence should be created along the tracks....already SGUj APDJ section has been affected by elephant corridor, now we cannot compromise speed in SGUJ NJP section...totally agree that NG section can be converted into dual gauge..another parrallel bridge on Mahananda can also be considered...whatever gates remaining, can be upgraded to RoB or RuB....this is no uphill task...only proper planning is required on part of W.B. Govt & Katihar Division,NFR.....

The construction of the flyover has eased the traffic movement from Hill Cart road to NJP bound vehicle... Previously it was a night mare
for any one travelling to NJP... This stretch could take hours in a bad situation...
.
Though this much demanded flyover whose construction was to start some 15-20 years back didn't happened... Their was many reason... It was planned that
...
both the rail gate will be closed after the construction of the flyover but after the flyover was operational one of the gates was closed and another was
opened... But it was seen the one railway gate was not adequate to handle the entire traffic so another gate was reopened...
.
The Flyover was not planned... Many more approach path was to be made... They said due to financial limitation and land problem the
flyover could not be done as planned...
.
One more problem in Siliguri City is Cycle Rickshaw they cannot use the flow over... So No option they have to use the railway gate...
.
Siliguri City needs some fast transport mode...
.
That's a good point you have pointed out that boundary wall are to erected in this stretch... I hope this a viable option...
One hurdle will be construction of another Mahananda Bridge... Much needed... But for fund crunch NFR it is a tough job...
.
Two more flyover is need one at Rangapani and another at Tikiapara[Near to Siliguri Town Station towards NJP]...

its better to shift this market place near Matigara/Shiv Mandir area instead of crowding Court More/Siliguri Town...Indian Railways cant compromise its speed because of problem in Siliguri Metropolitan Area...One RuB was constructed at the approach of Mahananda Bridge & that has been turned into a sewage canal....everywhere we can see mismanagement & ultimate sufferer are the people of Dooars...Nowhere we can see Running Time in NJP-APDJ stretch can match that of NJP NOQ stretch & ultimately APDJ division is diverting all the trains via NCB...

I hope that has to be done... Siliguri Town Station Area is one the oldest & congested place in Siliguri... Lots of Whole sell market in around this
place... But infrastructure is not adequate... In current trend no new business establishment is coming in this region... All are moving to new outskirts
of Siliguri Metropolitan areas for better infrastructure...
.

think for good railway connectivity to Dooars DEMU should terminate at Siliguri Junction... And more DEMU has to run in this route...
Like every 1 hr their should be one DEMU connecting Siliguri Junction and Alipurduar... With better connectivity the socio economic condition
of this region can be improved...
