#Railfaning_on_Board ....
A question to all friends ...
How do you find our new feature crossing / overtaking 'X/O ' useful in planning 'railfaning on board the train' ...
Whenever you have chance to travel on train , you can know very well which train is going to "X' you and 'O' you....
You
...
can be ready with your 'cam' and shoot a short vdo ....for putting up on IRI ...

TT doesnt shows scheduled timing but its just projection arising out of AVG Speed!!!
If train have 400 KM long non-stop run, its avg Speed will be kept uniform & TT @ IRI will project pass-through station arrival based on same Avg Speed, while other train with intermediate stop, will get higher Avg for several section, resulting in criss-cross overtakes n re-overtakes!!
- Like, just take example of HWH-NDLS Duronto!! Coz of AVG Speed projection as 85 KMPH, GZB-NDLS run gets covered in 17 Minutes (while minimum schedule given to halting train is
...

35 minurtes)!! And hence the scheduled overtake/Xing either will not happen or will happen earlier to X/O station.
Like, Kashi-Vishwanath will not be overtaken, if both runs on time, as Kashi gonna arrive GZB slightly after DRNTO!!
Same way, MAU-ANVT, Vaishali/Rewa SF etc overtake will happen quite earlier to as highlighted in the TT!!
PS: This cant be resolved (cant be affixed permanently but can be a moving average of regular run clash) but as traveler, i simply can guess who all on the way or crossed, by simple calculations & X/O reference!!

IRI calculates it by using time=Distance/speed formula. we know the avg speed between two stations, and we know distance, by that time taken to travel between two stns is calculated. it might be correct if the section is level ground, but if there are ghats in middle, you will see train getting abnormally late. the actual timetable, called as workig timetable, is availiable only with railways and LP's (and mostly guard too) and they try to stick to that. Unless some one here doesn't become an LP, we may never have actual working timetable in our hand :P

The observation you made is significant.
But the average speed is IRI feature...
However XO feature is affected by this , then something will have to be done to avoid wrong XO projection...
#Moderator Sir must be observing for improving the efficiency of this feature....
