Madurai to Chappra Via MS & MAS on Mondays and Saturdays.. Fastest Link MS to MAS is not a great distance so change over shouldnt be a problem.

Why Railway board never took action for increasing the frequency of this train? Earlier it is the direct train to Varanasi but later during Lalu's time as a RM, this train was forcibly extended to Chhapra in 2008 and many South Indians were protested against this. I saw often this train many spiritual tour operators using this train usually above 50-60 ages for visiting Prayagraj Varanasi for doing Pind Daan, Pitru/Shraddha Karma etc also lots of South people visit this above places. Better SR can run another train to Varanasi via BPQ G NIR JBP route for shortest route if slot is not available and there is not even a daily train to Varanasi to Chennai since ages. Travelling in Sanghamitra/Bagmati/other weekly trains towards Bihar and changing at DDU is quite riskier as from an perspective of South Indian spiritual traveller. Also still now NR is reluctant to increase MPS even from 100 to 110 in Moradabad Bareilly Lucknow section, this section really requires 130 mps, also 130 mps too required in Lucknow Ayodhya Jaunpur and Lucknow Sultanpur Jaunpur sections as well. Pratapgarh Janghai doubling is very slow, however they quickly completed Ayodhya wali line(for Ram Mandir inauguration) Infact, all the three lines from Lucknow to Varanasi (via Ayodhya/Sultanpur/Pratapgarh) to be handed over to NER ,Manakpur Ayodhya Sultanpur Pratapgarh Phaphamau section to NER along with Varanasi Cantt station as well to NER and upto DDU outers. Also handover Kanpur Alamnagar section to NCR, Unnao - Unchahar - Phaphamau - Janghai to NCR. NR should be restricted upto Delhi, Haryana, Punjab , Himachal, Kashmir and Western Uttar Pradesh only. Then only the above said issues will be solved.Give your comments.

I know about Tapti, yes but i was mentioning Varanasi bound trains which were extended by NER.

Otherwise, Tapti Ganga, Gyan Ganga etc all started from Varanasi only. Actually, now that i think about it, most trains with the term "Ganga" attached to it originated from Varanasi (of course there are some exceptions like Ganga Sagar and maybe other that I don't know of). Tapti Ganga, specifically was really popular train at that time, if I'm right this train had a record of hitting the most WL during that era. It was also daily and a superfast from BSB.

I think they extended it to CPR for 4 days a week and to BGP for 2 days a week, meaning a reduction of 1 day per week in services (BGP one doesn't even touch BSB now but rather DDU).

BSB and MAS go head in head when it comes to having their trains extended to someplace else...

Wow, didn't know about this actually. Thanks for letting me know.

Not surprised since it also has "Ganga" in its name hehe, but it's a good enough extension in my view since Dhanbad is already ignored by ECR because of it's love for Patna, ECR can't wrap it's mind around the fact that Dhanbad is the second biggest city it is serving.
