Agreed. But the bias towards neighbouring states' towns by both TVC and PGT is not correct. The way NCJ CAPE MAQ POY are treated by these divisions is not acceptable. Because of those towns, both divisions are existing (600 km criteria). Else, it would have ended up with a single integrated division.
With current scenario, even divisions can be dismantled, realigned and merged with others (Waltair division being bifurcated between ECOR and SCR). Pune division got Daund Manmad line from SUR recently.
So nothing wrong in these neglected areas making

In rail operations there are many factors at play including crew deployment, crew linkage & utilisation, availability of staff for maintenance, loco change, shunting & so on, whether the station has adequate facilities for ensuring staff has resting place and other things. Unfortunately its a fact that all these constraints are observed in smaller pass through stations. In this case I have heard that Palani was being explored, but since it is a pass through stn MDU division was unwilling to spare staff just for the maintenance of this one train if it was terminated there. For now terminating at PGTN seems more from an operational point of view.

It may be changing though. As per some sources, in the recently concluded TT committee meeting, from proposals submitted by SR, the ones that probably got approved are mostly from TN. Also heard that some trains terminating at CAPE will be terminated at NCJ leaving CAPE for more trains to be operated (example Pune-CAPE). CBE-RMM via POY is a strong possibility when the new Pamban bridge becomes operational. Lets hope for the best !!

Some of the trains can be made intercity cause their distance is less than 500kms.... like I had made couple of IMGs under my IMG list.... u can check them once (not all made, only handful of them)....and btw, useful list...👍
