Kothagudem: The patience of the passengers travelling by the push-pull Train that replaced conventional Singareni Passenger seems to be running thin. The commuters, who have been silently yet strongly opposing the decision of South Central Railway (SCR) replacing Singareni Passenger Train with push-pull train service since March, are now resorting to rail roko protests.The passengers onboard push-pull (Mainline Electrical Multiple Units-MEMU) Train No.67203 going from Bhadrachalam Road to Sirpur Town staged a flash rail roko when the train reached Dornakal junction in Mahabubabad district on Thursday.A large number of passengers, including men and women staged demonstration on the railway track in front of the train and shouted slogans demanding restoration of the Singareni Passenger train. The protest was staged for nearly half an hour.SCR officials must take the matter seriously as it was concerned with thousands of people who travel in the train. In addition to that there was shortage of seats as well as the number of coaches was reduced, she complained.It might be noted that Kothagudem youth and members of Akhila Bharata Yadava Mahasabha have conducted signature campaign in first week of May demanding to restore conventional Singareni Passenger Train.Meanwhile, on Thursday evening an all-party meeting was convened at Kothagudem to discuss future course of action and to intensify the protests demanding to withdraw MEMU train and restore conventional Singareni Train.
