September 25, 2023, were found guilty of planting an improvised explosive device (IED) near the Ghorasahan railway station in East Champaran district. The IED was discovered and defused before it could detonate. The court sentenced Umashakar Patel, Gajendra Kumar Sharma, and Motilal Paswan to 12 years each, with additional fines. Rakesh Kumar Yadav, Mukesh Yadav, and Ranjay Shah were sentenced to 9 years each, also with fines. The case was initially investigated by the Raxaul GRP and later transferred to the NIA in 2017.

The Railway Board has directed the concerned zone to make preparations for the special services, which are expected to feature 22 compartments including 13 for sleeping and 7 standard ones. One of the special trains, numbered 05585, will depart from Raxaul every Friday, starting from October 4th, 2023, and running until January 31st, 2025. Another train, numbered 05586, will depart from the Lokmanya Tilak Terminal every Sunday at 4:35 PM.
