Expressing satisfaction over the on-going project of laying two additional rail tracks at Itwari railway station, local traders said that it would immensely benefit all the commercial activities in the area. The traders also believed that the upcoming facility would change the face of the station.
Recently while Sunil Singh Soin, General Manager of SERC visited the station to review progress of the project, Pratap Motwani, Member of the Zonal User Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) of South East Central Railway (SERC) and a well-known trader, gave a floral bouquet to the visiting senior railway officer and urged him to complete the project as early as possible.

believe that loading and unloading of goods here at Itwari would increase manifold. It was a long pending demand of the traders which will be a reality very soon,” Motwani said while felicitating Soin. As of now Itwari is a four-line station and thus traders face hardship while doing movement of goods. Motwani said that the additional lines will be the game changer for the station.
“It will be technically feasible for the railway authorities to give stoppage to many important trains passing through the station which will further give relief to the traders and other passengers. Moreover, the new facilities would help authorities to reduce flow of passengers at Nagpur railway station. They may initiate new trains from the Itwari railway station,” he added.
Apart from the new tracks, the railways is also building a coaching complex at Itwari that could provide enough space for maintenance and halting of rakes.

The Nagpur Division of South East Central Railway (SECR) became the first in the zone to introduce a portable aluminium ramp facility for senior citizens, ailing and handicapped passengers, at Itwari railway station on Wednesday. The new facility will ensure passengers are shifted directly into the coach as against only the entry point earlier. Senior divisional commercial manager Arjun Sibal said, "The ramp is light weight and can be carried by one person. It costs Rs10,000 only. The design is a prototype of European and Japanese ramps, but has been customized locally." SECR plans to introduce the ramp at 8 stations. It will be available along with the wheelchair and a staff. There are plans to further modify the design. Requests can be on 0712-2766058 or 0712-2764324.

Develop Itwari Rly Station as terminal: Motwani
Business Bureau,
Zonal User Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) of South East Central Railway (SERC) recently conducted a meeting which was chaired by Sunil Singh Soin, General Manager of SERC and Dr Prakashchand Tripathi, Deputy General Manager and Secretary of ZRUCC. Pratap Motwani, representative of Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce (NVCC) and ZRUCC member discussed in detail on various issues which need attention for the development of Itwari Railway Station.

said, Itwari Railway Station should be developed as Terminal. Dr Tripathi gave nod to the proposal. Dr Tripathi said, Nagpur and Itwari are the two important stations. The work of gauge conversion on Nagpur-Chhindwara line would start soon on a war footing. The other works like pit line is also being carried out. Once these works are completed, the other development work would be taken on priority basis.
Dr Tripathi informed that as per the announcement by Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, the coach manufacturing depot with a capacity of 22 coaches would be developed. “For this project, 506 feet line will be laid, watering, charging and air coach facility will also be made available. Apart from these, 60 meter shunting line, 150 meter approach road and internal roads will also be developed,” he said.
Motwani also demanded stoppage of Inter-City Express to and fro. He brought into notice of the committee the problems of Kamptee Railway Station. “The important railway station of Nagpur sub-urban falling in the constituency of Maharashtra Energy Minister and Nagpur District Guardian Minister, Chandrashekar Bawankule and Krupal Tumane, Member of Parliament from Ramtek is away from the development,” he noted. He said, the station has no common facilities. The platform needs widening. Facilities like announcement of arrival and departure of trains, increase in reservation timings and coach display facility at platform should be started soon.
Dr Tripathi took cognisance of issues raised by Motwani and directed concerned officials to resolve them. Sunil Singh Soin addressed the issues raised by the representatives. Himanshu Jain, Secretary to General Manager informed the committee about digital services. Also present were C C M Shivraj, Deputy General Manager and other executives
