Yes, but there have been problems with getting funds for this project. With such a crunch, better to spend the money on the doubling, which is far more urgent than electrification on this line. Also SWR has more than enough number of EMD's to ensure good passenger/freight services on their routes. They will not be in a hurry for electrification.
I think after completion of doubling between tumkur to arsikere i.e march 2019 electrification work may start from bangalore to jru because funds have been alloted in last year budget. I think in swr only bangalore division is concentrating on electrification
