Yo! So check it out, we need to extend the railway tracks from Baiyappanhalli (Bengaluru) to Hosur and all the way up to Omalur Junction near Salem. This is gonna help ease the heavy traffic from Bengaluru to Jolarpettai/Salem through Tiruppatur. Plus, just so you know, the Baiyappanhalli-Hosur-Omalur Junction sections are part of the Bengaluru Division of the South Western Railway. So, we're asking our SWR peeps to send a proposal for extending the track doubling beyond Hosur all the way to Omalur Junction and also include electrification. Only then can the Hosur-Baiyappanhalli suburban section be fully utilized and the suburban passengers can reap the benefits. Peace out!
That will be taken up on priority 2 basis. BYPL-HSRA passes majorly through Bengaluru city and cost is huge to expedite this project. Moreover, line till HSRA is very much needed for running sub-urban trains.
By the time this gets completed, SWR should chalk plans to double the remaining 136 kms till Kaluvalli.
