tests would be conducted at the government hospital at Zaheerabad and patients who need surgical intervention would be identified.
“Based on that, treatment would be extended to patients. Five patients have so far been identified for the correction of clefts, 140 for eye problems and 160 for hearing problems. They are undergoing screening at the government hospital. We will be commencing surgeries today [Sunday] itself,” said M&M senior HR manager G. Pradeep Goud.
An estimated 1,500 people from across the district will receive treatment at the Lifeline Express.
The world’s first Lifeline Express was launched on 16 July, 1991 at Khelari in today’s Jharkhand, and has extended assistance to more than six lakh people in the past 23 years by restoring mobility to polio and orthopedically-affected by surgery and through provision of callipers, correction of clefts, eye problems and hearing problems.
The Lifeline Express has five rail coaches – a specialty kitchen, a rest room, meeting hall and training occupy the first two, medicines, medical equipment and sterilisation the third, the remaining are used for surgeries.
The five-coach train will offer medical services, including surgical intervention for those with clefts, eye and ear problems

SCR’s will come up at Rajahmundry and Aurangabad, IRCON’s at Hyderabad and the RITES’ at Guntur. The MFCs will have facilities such as shops, food stalls/restaurants, book stalls, ATMs, pharmacies, variety stores, budget hotels and vehicle parking.
RLDA has invited bids for construction of the MFCs. The last date for bidding is November 7.
Prominent developers, retail and hotel chain operators and others have expressed a keen interest to attend a pre-bidding conference proposed to be held in this regard.
