Many people do their train change over and boarding-alighting at Lucknow and get confused by seeing their trains starting from two different stations-LJN & LKO. This tip will surely help those.
See the image attached. The Blue arrow shows the Lucknow Charbagh station called as "Badi Line" and is under Northern railways. The black arrow shows the Lucknow Junction station called as "Choti Line" & is under North Eastern Railway.
The Lucknow Charbagh station is a pass through station and trains doesn't need rake reversal here. But Lucknow Junction station is a...
more... Terminal type station where Rake reversal is compulsory , as you can clearly see in the image.
Now if you have to go from Lucknow charbagh to Lucknow Station, then come outside of the LKO from Pf 1 side and from the exit which is towards CNB side (Thats because if you come out from other exit which is towards varanasi side then you will have to walk bit more.) and after coming outside , see towards LEFT hand side. You will see another building in front of you. Just go there and enter it. You will be standing at Lucknow Junction. This will hardly take 8-10 min for this change over. So if you are having a change over here at LKO/LJN , then easily 30 minutes are more than enough for Buffer (just giving example:Never keep small buffers for change over. Atleast keep 2-3 hrs buffer for all change over of trains at any station.)
This LJN station is newer as compared to LKO and has lesser options for everything, be it food or books or anything else, as compared to Lucknow Charbagh station (LKO).
