The funny thing is the Ernakulam - Bangalore ICE takes 2 minutes lesser than this train on the CBE-BNC route. So, a passenger on that train will pay less, will board at more convenient timings and still reach in the same duration as this VB.
I assume the speed of this VB has something to do with the mps of the section being limited. But that doesn't excuse it. The GKP-LKO VB runs via an even lower mps section and yet, is faster. Plus, the timings of this VB is atrocious. It...

Mate u r absolutely right.... either they divert this via Tirupattur and stop at BWT and KJM otherwise transfer the rake to SWR and start from BNC at 07am in the morning...👍👍👍

Right after this there is a Double decker train with just a 20 min diff in overall travel time. Leaves at a better time and fares are also lesser. The travel time has to drastically reduce to attract passengers. Only new thing that is seen in this VB is that Hosur and Dharmapuri have got a new VB for their location
Hosur/ Dharmapuri to Erode/ Tiruppur/ Coimbatore traffic does not require a VB. Just ICE is what is needed.
It's not what is needed. It's what IR wants to give. Ayodhya doesn't have a proper Intercity connectivity to either GKP [ with only a slow passenger running ] or to LKO[only a morning passenger runs that comes in just before the VB]. If they can't give an ICE train to what they assume will be a tourist destination, why will they give one to other stations?
There are now 2 VBs from AY to LKO but not a single ICE. Apparently, only people who can shell out lots of money go...

its good , that people have started reacting over it.. combining it with low occupancy and poor performance in the first quarter .. SWR & SR will get pressurize to change the route and TT of this train.. Should be either extended to Prashanti Nillayam or ERN...
Even if route is not changed, can be speeded up a lot, despite issues of single line, ghat section. Why to unnecessary slack to a high priority train?
Should depart at 6 or 6:30 in morning and reach by 11::30 - 12:00 (depending on dep timing), 5 hr to 5 hr30 min max.

looking at the TT , do you think it is possible to cover this distance in 5 hours ? i thought it is impossible via this route.
Does n't IR know that they are planning schedule for a VB train not an intercity express ! this should fail and then re routed or re scheduled permanently ..

SMVT seems like built by SWR without any involvement with state transport authorities or state government wings. So no proper approach road, no proper conveyance, no safety. Just like a jewel in an island.
It just goes to showcase that just because a route exists, it doesn't mean you plow in a VB train onto it. Just look at the 33 kph speed for the last section of this train. Looks as if it's running on ancient lines that haven't been upgraded in eons. A better thing would be to run an ICE with the same timings and put in 8 AC coaches onto it via this route. It'll serve all kinds of pax on this route, will only be slightly slower [since VBs have faster acceleration] and most importantly, have a much higher carrying capacity.
