Indeed so! After the Howrah Duronto was diverted via the main line, the need for a more realistic alternative to the Howrah Duronto is definitely required! With all due respect, paying extra money, and going via the main line can never be justificable for a SL Passenger from Howrah side!
But Sanket raises a good point too, an bi-weekly AC express without any dyanamic fare can do wonders on this route!
Why not start by regularising this train?

300+ bookings in it's return trip...all this shows that ac express would run with heavy waitlist given 4 months arp in this route
It didn't get spanked as much a you thought....4 hrs delay for a special is normal enough
Yeah NCR treated it with a lot of respect I must say, maybe because first, its got loads of slack and secondly late afternoon is probably the best time to cross NCR as traffic is the least. Still, very good performance because even regular trains like Kalka mail gets terribly delayed in MGS-CNB-GZB section even though it runs in afternoon-evening despite having slack.

Gaya-mgs ke liye 4hrs 15 min. Kuch zyadaa nahi hai. TT up to gaya 12329/79 ka follow kar rahi hai. gaya see mgs aaram see 3 hrs mein cover kar leti. Mujhe to doubt hai ki 12301 see just 10 min pehle arrival at mgs hai. Aisa na ho ki poori gang isse ECR mein hi lapet let ya phir mgs mein pf overtake karwa de.
Dusre zones me Shatabdi trains ko 100km ke gap par stoppage mil jaata he lekin NCR me congestion ki wajah se nahi milta.

Pehle to bus gzb stoppage tha....ab etawah or aligarh ho Gaya hai.....ab or stop Milne ka scope nahi bacha sir g.....ald humsafar k liye andolan kro bhai

Kya faydaa when it will have slot sharing with 12817. Tt has to be aggressive. Itna LAX tt nahi.
Bhai Khushi mnaao dynamic fares nahi hai.....or ac 3 mein seat he seat hai....thodo slow hona he acha hai....ab aggressive time table leke Kya faayda jab ki trains fir bhi 8 ghante delayed anvt pahuchti thi.....sdah-anvt suvidha express ka haal yaad he hoga .....time table full rajdhani type tha....or dhn-anvt special fare k saath saath he anvt pahuchti thi 6-7 ghante late
Dynamic fare ne naak mein dum kar rakha hai. Respite sirf 1hi Hain ki 20818 mein GMO ko gnwl de rakha hai. Fare badhega magar utni jaldi nahi jaise rlwl quota mein hota hai

Brand new LHB coaches. The Rajdhani colored 12259/60 Duronto rake may be partially replaced by these coaches, as most of the coaches in that Rajdhani colored rake is 2006 made and in bad condition.
Yes .. especially Duronto livered coaches are also old and condition is not satisfactory compared to Rajdhani livered coaches
Check the video carefully although the EOG was running it seemed the power car was HOG enabled (Power cables visible which are used in HOG). Maybe its a spare rake prepared from Sdah Rajdhani pooled coaches.
