Exactly ,compared to neighbouring states like Bihar and MP, UP has a very good network of state run buses.

This is the same reason ,why in festival time, even the capital Lucknow, where you will get patronage for sure, has not dedicated specials (to even Delhi).

Pretty much what you said, beshaq roadways are not the most comfortable way to travel around but when it gets the job done, it basically gets the job done.

Jharkhand me to roadways naam se kuchh hai hi nahi khas, Bihar me hai lekin not even remotely close to the level of UPSRTC.

Har jegeh ke liye bus frequency will be between 5 to 20 minutes.

UP me jahan train nahi, wahan sarkari bus hai aur jahan sarkari bus nahi wahan darzano aur saikdo private bus hai.

I would like to add one more point to this discussion, specifically regarding the privatization of public services, such as state-owned buses and railways.

Festive season aa raha hai, Railways ek line se lagatar special trains launch kar raha hai. Abhi Maha-Kumbh aayega Prayagraj me to wahan pe UPSRTC saikdo bus laga dega nayi nayi agal bagal ki cities aur towns ke liye.

Ham Railways ya Roadways ko kitna bhi gaali de dein, ye organizations logon ki jimmedaari lete hai guardians (maa-baap) jaise, wahin pe private commodities like private buses or the airline sectors, apna daam badha dete hai festive season ke time.

And that is the difference between government and private for you.

They need the dough, clear and simple explanation.

Running a special train won't bring enough extra revenue, so why not run an already overpriced premium service as a special. They're running a VB/Tejas rake on the NDLS-PNBE route, which is double this route, then why not here.

original service this rake is used for runs poorly patronized anyways, so NR/LKO is doing everything to generate revenue from those two rakes. Volvos are running ONT with seating configuration since ages, and are doing just fine.

So, if the journey is doable, and if people are willing to buy the tickets, what's wrong in running a VB.

The seats of VB have an inclination or recline angle of 19.5 deg where as in Volvo or night service buses the recline angle is 40 deg, lighting is put off which help in sleep while in train ACC you have full lighting with high lux. So buses cannot be compared with night ACC. Further night buses in past 10 years have upgraded to AC sleeper buses all over India.

As Merrut Lucknow is running with 2 rakes this spl is introduced and returning in night to have regular 4

Obviously, I can add a lot more pointers why Volvos are more comfortable than ONT ACC, one of the main reasons being the cushion comfort of the seats. But that's not my point.

If someone's buying tickets in an ONT ACC train just to reach somewhere in the 'stampede-like' rush of the festive seasons, they're well aware of the choice they're making. These are extra trains being run for passangers' convenience. We aren't talking about the ideal situations here.

I've traveled sitting with 4 other people on my seat during the '19 Kumbh in Prayagraj, so there's not much you can do during festive seasons.

And as I can see this train's scheduled days are from October 25th to November 9th. Most of the passenger traffic will be in it's day counterpart, towards Bihar. So, the night time train is being run as just a return train, anyway.

P.S. In the northern parts of India at least, state run ONT buses are mostly still in seating configuration, no matter how luxury they've become.

This is what I fail to understand. State-owned bus organizations often complain about the losses they incur, yet they do not introduce the buses that people actually need.

For instance, if these organizations, such as UPSRTC, introduced reliable sleeper buses on routes like Varanasi to Lucknow, Prayagraj to Lucknow, and Varanasi to Gorakhpur, many passengers would switch from trains to these buses.

I don't think there's much demand for sleeper buses. Because unlike trains buses aren't spacious. And people prefer to sit alongside a stranger, rather than sleeping. Then there's hygiene. So, instead of handling situations like this, they're running what's easily acceptable.

Added bonus, pocket friendly to passangers, more passangers means more revenue. And looking at the almost fully occupied buses, it's not even bothering them. Delhi-Manali sector requires long travel times, but buses either HRTC Himsuta or from private operators are all of sitting type. Same for Delhi-Jaipur or Agra-Rishikesh routes. Because

For sleepers, people prefer trains. I haven't seen a single UP Roadways with Sleeper configuration, even though I've read that they operate a few. Even private operators are mostly running on the routes where trains aren't in higher frequencies.

Agree:perhaps.
They're running it with the rake of Meerut Vande Bharat (most probably) hence extension from Lucknow side was not possible. Also they are taking it back early morning which will not attract many passengers.
