His main eye is now on routes with low density and he is going to strengthen and create new links or missing links which can generate volume/revenue. If you see as me, he must focus on the two major freight corridors under construction. His aim is to complete them and commission them ASAP to save the railway under debt. As the freights shall generate more volume and funds, those funds can then be implemented on other projects faster. His idea to create , strengthen , doubling, tripling etc is a boost for IR. We must support him. There are routes which should have been doubled in the last 30 years and which are single line and are getting populated due to increase in freight. His main focus is on FREIGHTS and not passenger trains, which is a good move to bring back railways on its tracks. This unit was utmost necessary...

as they;ll be manufacturing high HP Elocos which shall be used specifically by Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd. on the DFC routes which are already under construction. For the last more than 40 years, the previous govts did nothing to use the branch lines for decongesting the main line route, which is very important . Do you think its good to halt a freight train for hours to give pass to passengers trains ? That is why IR had implemented the idea of DFC, which was suggested by Japan Rail Corp. , France and Germany. The had even suggested that USE YOUR EXISTING NETWORK FOR FREIGHT AND CREATE A NEW CORRIDOR FOR PASSENGER, if you want your railways to progress. And moreover , Land Acquisition is the biggest hurdle in development of railways and country. So, its our choice, either to be a hurdle or make way for developed India. Choice is really OURS...!!

Basically for routes which shall ply with double stacked containers. And DLW also exports them to countries like Sri Lanka etc.
