The State committee of the Railway Passengers Association (RPA) has demanded that the hike in charge for platform ticket be rolled back. In a statement, RPA president Paravoor Sajeeb said the charge for a platform ticket was now higher than the minimum fare for a train journey. While the minimum ticket fare was Rs.5, a platform ticket cost Rs.10. Hiking the platform ticket charge on the pretext of reducing the crowd on platforms was unjustified, he said.

Seriously... now the platform ticket at Howrah Station will jump from Rs.3/- to Rs. 10/- and it's not cool. Why didn't Mr. Prabhu announce this hike in the Rail Budget 2015 Speech? It seems that the budget has no meaning if hikes in any IR sector will take place during any part of the financial year >:-(
