i think there is some agreement which has to be followed because of which this train is getting scrapped. My question is tht why did railway announce it on first place when they cant run it ?
Quite surprising that railway minister was not aware of the same while announcing the train. Wasn't he advised then of all these challenges and low occupancy of existing train.?
Just go through Yatra.com or Makemytrip.com etc., to understand the traffic between Bangalore and Mangalore. Daily 150 buses (KSRTC and private) are plying in one direction. with avg of 45 pax per bus, app. 7000 people are travelling between these 2 towns. In peak season, the number of buses and fare just doubles. If one train can be run, it will coolly take 2000 pax.
If SWR runs one overnight train with proper timings to cover the distance in 9-10 hours, people will use such a train. Now, what is the situation? Just one night train running with 2 train numbers just to fool the public/ rly authorities and one day time train on alternate days with avg speed less...

Initially SWR showed reluctance to throw the line open to public. When protests reached peak, just introduced one train between MAQ and SBC. Cunning SR extended it to Kannur when coastal karnataka people wanted one train to their towns!
The constrains have not appeared from moon. They were there earlier also. These should have been taken care of while designing/ converting MG to BG. Else, they should have left the MG as it is between Sakleshjpur to Mangalore Jn. After spending crores of rupees and after a decade, the reasons seem silly to cover up the mistakes/ errors. Assuming that 2 stns have problem of siding etc., do not provide stops at these 2 stns and let the train run at slow...
