A passenger train that chugged into the pristine Barail Hills after setting out from here in southern Assam on November 21 on the newly-converted broad gauge...
Dont anticipate too much from Silchar Lumding BG route where a passenger train is taking more than 8 hrs to cover 199 km with no crossings @ all..When full fledged trains will start to ply in this route then congestipn will dpuble the travel time & hence its highly unlikely that the services would be popular among the locals. Instead try to run Boeings & A330 from Kumbhigram Airport for overall development of Barak Valley. The rail network is suitable only for goods train operation because no passenger can afford to wait for 16 hrs to reach GHY from Silchar. Already citizens are demanding Rajdhani & Shatabdi class train services from Silchar but that is far away from reality. When Rajdhanis could not run even in 13 yrs in Elephant Corridor then how can u expect such trains in this region whixh is geographically very much unstable with hair pin bends...
