To add to your thoughts, Calicut station is also one of my favourite Station beside Palghat Jn as I did my schooling at Calicut before settling at Palghat. I have association with Calicut for more than 13 years. During my childhood, my Train travel used to happen between Calicut and Pattambi, my fathers ancestral home. During Holidays, we used to board the then 510 Cannanore Coimbatore Fast Passenger which had high priority at par with express trains during those days (i.e. late 80s till the late 90's).It used to skip kallayi and thirunavaya stations at that time also had few unreserved chair car coaches. The return journey was on the old 2626A Link Mangala express (PGT-MAQ) from Pattambi to Calicut which reached PTB around 10.30 am. reach Calicut by 12.45 pm. as per the present TT of CBE MAQ Fast Passenger. We made it a point to have Veg.meals from the restaurant at Calicut stn which was at that time excellent.
especially, the rasam which was indeed, mouth watering..Thanks..
