Terminal ko substation bhi kah sakte hai central Railway station ka, jo ki main station par jaada orginating trains ho jane ke baad ek sub station ya terminal banaya jata hai jo ki main central station ke load ko us sub station or terminal par shift kar diya jata hai ye tarminal or Central stations ko open close se koi lena dena nahi hota hai....
'Terminal' is the general term for any building/station which has a lot of originating/terminating traffic. In that aspect, RJPB is called a 'terminal' as it was intended to de-congest PNBE by shifting some originating traffic here.
'Central' station was a term commonly used in the early British period when major cities like Bombay, Madras etc had many suburban stations. In those cases, the main station serving the city would be called 'Central' station. Note that this was just a practice followed by some railway companies of that time. Calcutta and Delhi never had any 'Central' stations. It was just the choice of some railway companies to have a grand, main station in a major city called...

terminal in my view is that station where the train gets originate & terminate is known as terminal, such as cst, rajendra nagar, anand vihar etc.
junction is that station where trains of two different direction meet at one point, such as itarsi junction where trains from nagpur side & mumbai side meet at itarsi & even depart for different side stations such as one side towards bhopal&other side towards jabalpur.junction can be called to any station which completes any one of the above .either two different side arrive at one station or depart for two different side from same station.

One correction . Howrah is actually both junction cum terminus . Junction because line diverge from here itself towards Liluah & SRC & terminus because majority trains originate/terminates here .
A junction needs at least 3 distinct lines branching out. Howrah has only two lines. Except for requiring a reversal, it is no different from a normal passing station.
It is a terminus as I too have mentioned earlier. It just was not named as a such by the EIR.
