Purnia is in the middle of SHC and Jogbani section and never was terminal. The Nepal and home zone factor gives Jogbani edge and when SHC-KIR line opens may be trains like Hate-Bazarey can run via Purnia.
But even though Purnia is much bigger point than Katihar the importance of KIR is more.

In fact the ongoing projects in rest of Bihar also need trains and many new sections are due for open so i feel IR mush use new corridors to decongest existing sections and some extensions ie Patna train also required.

performance of 13163/64 is nowhere comparable to that of 13147/49/12343/77....again a train for Katihar its doubtful whether it was really required or not...actual demand from HWH/SDAH is towards NJP & not KIR...
Katihar got this train only due to availability of Pit lines...after GHY in NFR KIR has max 4 pit lines.even NJP has only 2.
