BMRCL wants to take metro to Bengaluru suburbs

Bengaluru's Namma Metro has proposed a feasibility study for 129 km of new lines as part of a potential Phase 4. These lines would connect suburban areas outside the city core, despite the lack of adequate metro coverage in the city center. The proposed lines include extensions of the Purple and...

Green lines, a new semi-circular line in the east and south, and a new line connecting Jigani, Anekal, Attibele, Sarjapur, and Varthur. This plan contradicts the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) prepared in 2020, which prioritized other metro lines. The BMRCL is seeking funding from the state government to study the feasibility of these lines, despite concerns about their cost-effectiveness and the potential for rejection by the central government due to their exclusion from the CMP. Rail enthusiasts argue that suburban areas are better served by railway lines, as metro travel times would be long and the cost would be high.

Bengaluru ka Namma Metro, Phase 4 ke liye 129 km ki nayi lines ke liye feasibility study karne ka proposal rakha hai. Ye lines city ke core area se bahar, suburban areas ko connect karenge, iske baavajood ki city center mein adequate metro connectivity nahin hai. Proposed lines mein Purple aur...

Green lines ka extension, east aur south mein ek nayi semicircle wali line, aur Jigani, Anekal, Attibele, Sarjapur, aur Varthur ko connect karne wali ek nayi line shamil hai. Ye plan 2020 mein taiyar kiya gaya Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) se contradict karta hai, jisne other metro lines ko priority di thi. BMRCL state government se funding maang raha hai in lines ki feasibility study karne ke liye, iske baavajood ki unke cost-effectiveness aur CMP mein include na hone ke karan central government se reject hone ka risk hai. Rail enthusiasts ka argument hai ki suburban areas railway lines se better serve hote hai, kyunki metro travel time zyada hoga aur cost bhi zyada ayega.
