Is there a possibility to develop and use Verna as a terminal for the north bound trains ? VSG isn't at ideal location and don't have much space, Verna don't have space constraint and hence Mumbai bound trains can terminate at Verna instead of Madgaon.
Madgaon instead can be used to terminate the trains which travel southwards.
Verna doesn't have connectivity. Moreover it caters freight traffic. If, in near future, a Madgaon Bypass line is planned from Karmali to Vasco, then North bound trains can be taken to VSG and MAO can cater South bound traffic.
They already have Vasco Da Gama railway station they should develop it as a proper terminal by commissioning the 2nd pitline and terminating more trains there. Connectivity features are also pretty good there. As far as Verna is concerned it's an industrial estate and a small village that's why it is a freight terminal. It's a shame that they don't even have a single premium train terminating at Vasco and all are usurped by Madgaon as if all rich people live there and Vasco is basically a slum.
South Western Railway (SWR) has decided to replace the conventional ICF coaches of Train number 17309/17310 Yeshwantpur Vasco Yeshwantpur Express via Hubballi with LHB coaches.
