This distance is almost the same that Gomti Express traverses. However, unlike this train, that remains mostly full [especially by daily passengers; well except AC First]. Instead of giving more and more AC Sleeper accomodations [ 6 in number from November], they should either dump this train and start a pure overnight connection b/w these 2 cities. Or give it another rake and tidy up the timings [for Pete's sake, it arrives post 0200 hrs at Lucknow].

same rake wouldn't be required, a late morning departure from PPTA can be done as well, instead of afternoon.Add in couple of additional stops on GKP-LJN section and it'll function like a reverse version of 12531/2.

I meant in terms of distance traversed, time taken and coach composition, it does resemble the Gomti a bit. This train doesn't get anywhere near as full as the Gomti and one of the reasons are it's shitty timings.

I would say that both routes have different patterns of passengers. Gomti is only a daily morning train to National Capital, here there are other morning options like Shaheed and Bagh.
The LJN-GKP-PPTA didn't need a full-length rake. Earlier in ICF it was hardly having 15 coaches. That's the NER way. Look at 15009 and how it can justify to have 10 AC 3 Tier Coaches. RSA partner of 12530 deserves 3 Coaches of 3Ac Tier and a 2 Ac Tier.

12530 doesn't. Ironically, that section only had unreserved connectivity upto Gonda few years back and boom, 10 AC coaches now. Either case, it all goes to waste since in the morning, LJN-MLN section it's the daily pax which board SL and GN coaches.and AC coaches often remain mostly empty.

Vande Bharat is a good idea, only caveat is slowly people are taking it "on their ego".
They want every goddamn train to stop at their station no matter what the occupancy is, and slowly trains become nothing but a way of appeasing the ego of people.
