The morning ERS-CAN ICE 16305/16306 can be extended upto MAQ. Now that SRR-MAQ is double line, distance of 400 KMs can be covered in 7-1/2 hrs to 8 hrs. Say, if is starts from ERS by 0600, can reach CAN by 1115 and leave CAN by 1125 and reach MAQ by 1345. Return direction it can start by 1415, reach CAN by 1630 and reach ERS before 2200.
For this, CBE-MAQ ICE TT needs to be adjusted slightly. Anyway CBE ICE rake is idle at MAQ from afternoon till next day morning. The rake can be used for my proposed MAQ-ERS ICE. Instead of CBE-MAQ rake idling, it will be ERS-MAQ rke idling.no other difference.

Ernad is idle at MAQ from evening to next day 1145 (to run as CBE ICE). Meantime, CBE ICE rake is idle at MAQ from afternoon to next day early morning to run as Ernad. I would suggest following:
Ernad after reaching MAQ at 1720, can go to CAN as ICE. Next day morning, it can go as CAN-ERS/ALP ICE. ERS/ALP-ICE with advanced timings can run upto MAQ and get ready to go as Ernad next day morning. The advantages are avoiding of idling of rakes at MAQ as well as MAQ-CAN gets a evening ICE train.

At present, there are no proper night trains between MAQ-ERS. Maveli reaches at 0230 and Malabar at 0345. However, Poorna Express slot (11097/ 11098) is vacant for 5 days a week on both directions. Suggest a tri weekly Exp between MAQ-ERS in this slot. It can leave MAQ by 1930-1945, CAN by 2300 and ERS by morning 0430. Return trip can be ERS at 2315, CAN 0445 and MAQ 0700. Will be beneficial for frequent travelers.
CBE-MAQ passenger runs with a pathetic TT. In the last 20 years, the TT has not got any revision. Now that full stretch is double line, average speed can be increased to 40 kms/hr from present 33. Will be able to save around 2 hours in its entire journey. From SRR, many people from ERS/ TCR/ Guruvayur pax alight from ERS-SRR(Nilambur) pass and board this train, but crowd is unmanageable. Suggest 4-5 coaches from ERS pass can get merged/detached at SRR for the benefit of ERS/TCR passengers.
Also, if any reserved coach is introduced, it will benefit long distance passgners who want to enjoy kerala stretch in day time. No other comfortable trains are there between ERS-MAQ in day time
