After extensive engineering repairs, a four coach train negotiated the Z reverse at km 26 of World Heritage Darjeeling Himalayan Railway today.Massive landslides had damaged Tindharia area of DHR in 2012. @RailMinIndia sparing no effort for Heritage conservation.

NMR has one at Conoor station. Conoor is a terminus station. Trains going from MTP to Ooty, will enter Conoor station, reverse, and ascend to a line that runs on a higher level just beside the station, and proceed ahead.
The NMR does not need zigzags for most of the route. This is because it uses a rack-and-pinion system to handle steep grades (NMR has 1 in 12.5 grades, which are the steepest in the country, while DHR has much less steeper gradients), so it does not require reversing stations. The MTP-Conoor stretch is a rack and pinion system.

The more famous mark for the Bhor ghat reversing station is the Amrutanjan bridge. That marked the point where both lines coming into the reversing station bifurcated. The small hill between the old highway and the new expressway near Amrutanjan bridge used to have a catch siding on it.
thanks, never knew there was a catch siding there too
that bridge is planned to be demolished though, loads of complaints by drivers as the piers of the bridge obstruct the movement of traffic on the already congested section of expressway.
another piece of history about to be demolished :(
