This petition will be handed over to the Railways officially by the Hosur Payanigal Meambattu Sangham, on October 26, 2017, at 7.30 am, in Hosur Railway Station.
Honorable Shri Piyush Goyal,
The Honorable Minister of Indian Railways,
of India.
The Daily Rail Commuters between Hosur and Bengaluru
Respected Sir,
Sub: Requesting to approve the doubling of track between Hosur and Bengaluru; and stoppage of Express trains in a few stations.
We are the proud passengers who commute up and down from Hosur to Bengaluru on daily basis to earn our livelihood. Most of us are season ticket holders. The love for train, our livelihood and pride is at stake now. We are used to punishment of the delay in passenger train. These days it has reached its extreme limit.
The privilege given to express train is all right as per the norms but the impact created by it on passenger trains has been difficult to manage. These delays can be avoided by providing a double track in this route, which is an on-going demand for years together. Since this route has a single-track provision, most of the trains running on-time were made to wait for crossing over the intermediate stations. This results in delay of all the trains between Hosur and Bengaluru. This in turn affects the total number of hours that we burn in office.
We are requesting the Honorable Minister of Railways to provide approval and sanction of double track between Hosur and Bengaluru on high priority. I presume, the government of India is aware that Hosur stands fourth in Global Economic forum for fastest developing cities. In addition to that, the announcement from Tamilnadu government says that Hosur will soon be a Corporation, which will in turn give Hosur the City Status. Above all, Hosur is the mechanical hub of Deccan plateau.
Having said these, the steady rise of Hosur population should be appreciated and it will be helpful if Indian Railways can do their part on supporting a city that intends to grow. Apparently, the number of commuters for train from Hosur to Bengaluru will increase. In addition, Indian Railways is making good amount of profit because of the goods train that serve Hosur. Plight of Hosur Railway station is awful. Platform no 4 that brings more money is at ground level. Hosur Railway station has only one foot over bridge.
We have more concerns but our main Agenda are as follows:
Double-track provision between Hosur and Bengaluru.
Providing new basic harmless stops for a few Express Trains and
Electrification of railway lines
On considering the same, we are requesting the railways to provide stoppage for a few express trains like Nagercoil to Bengaluru (17236) and Bengaluru to Nagercoil (17235), Mysore to Mailaduturai (16232) and Mailaduturai to Mysore (16231), Mysore to Tuticorin (16236) and Tuticorin to Mysore (16237), Bengaluru to Ernakulum (12677) and Ernakulum to Bengaluru (12678), to stop at the Baiyappanahalli station and Carmelram. These trains are anyway unofficially stopping at these stations for crossing over, and thus it can be made as an official stop to increase the revenue. This can be implemented immediately so that the boarding passengers in the nearby stations can make use of train, which will in turn reduce the flooded road traffic in Bengaluru.
Kindly pay heed to the abovesaid demands and make our dreams real.
With lot of hopes for a safe and better Commutation.
Bottom line of our request:
Provision of Double track between Hosur and Bengaluru
Stoppage of of Express Trains at Baiyappanahalli and Carmelram stations
Electrification of railway lines between Hosur and Bengaluru
Copy to:
The Honorable Railway Minister of India.
The Chairman, Rail Bhavan, New Delhi, India.
The Honorable Chief Minister of Karnataka.
The Honorable Chief Minister of Tamilnadu.
The Honorable MLA of Hosur.
The Honorable MP of Hosur (Krishnagiri Lok Sabha constituency).
The Divisional Railway Manager of Bengaluru Division.
The Additional Divisional Railway Manager of Bengaluru Division.
The Chief Operations Manager of South Western Railways, Huballi HQ.
The Station Master of Hosur Railway Station.

They want measures to ensure regular conduct of the rural sport, ban on PETA
Stressing the need for permanent measures to conduct jallikattu, an important trait of Tamil culture, regularly without any hindrance, scores of students, youths and members of various organisations thronged SAV School ground here on Sunday.
The protesters vociferously demanded a ban on People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). They said they would not give up their protest unless the State Government took permanent measures to conduct jallikattu every year as part of Pongal celebrations. Similar protests were
staged by students at 11 locations, including Kovilpatti, in the district, sources said.
In Tirunelveli, 11 youths, who took part in the protest at VOC Ground on Sunday, fainted.
Two of them were taken to Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital. Their condition was stable. The others were treated as outpatients at a private hospital. Protests were held at 14 locations in the district, sources said.
Over 700 students continued their stir at Anna Stadium in Nagercoil. People from all walks of life participated in the protest to show their solidarity with the protesting students on Sunday. The protesters raised slogans demanding a permanent solution to the issue and a ban on PETA.
Trains cancelled
Due to the stir, the following trains were cancelled on Sunday: Train No. 17236 Nagercoil- Bangalore Express; Train No. 16609/16610 Nagercoil- Coimbatore and Coimbatore- Nagercoil Express trains; Guruvayoor Express; Train No. 12633/34 Kanniyakumari-Chennai, Chennai-Kanniyakumari, Express trains; Train No. 16723/24 Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai and Chennai-Thiruvananthapuram Express trains; and Train No. 12690 Nagercoil-Chennai Weekly Special, according to Southern Railway sources. Nagercoil Chapter of INTACH has extended its support to the ongoing protests for jallikkattu.
In a press release issued here on Sunday, R.S. Lal Mohan, coordinator of Nagercoil Chapter of INTACH, said jallikkattu symbolised the valour of the youths of Tamil Nadu.
“It is an indigenous sports conducted in many parts of the southern and the northern parts of the State. Bulls have strong agricultural connections,” he added.

Around 200 Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam cadres blocked rail traffic at Tirunelveli Railway Junction on Friday for a few minutes demanding lifting of ban on jallikattu and banning of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).
As the DMK cadres including MLAs T.P.M. Mohideen Khan, A.L.S. Lakshmanan and Poongothai, former Speaker R. Avudaiyappan, former MLA M. Appavu and office-bearers of the party blocked the Chennai – Nagercoil Special Train as it entered Tirunelveli Railway Junction around 10.40 a.m., some of them squatted on the track.
After raising slogans for a few minutes, the
police asked the protesters to give up the agitation. When the DMK cadres, expecting their arrest, started boarding the police vehicle parked in front of the railway junction, they were told that they would not be arrested. Immediately, they alighted and left the spot in their vehicles.
In neighbouring Thoothukudi, the DMK cadres, led by party’s Tiruchendur MLA Anita R. Radhakrishnan, blocked the Chendur Express Train at Shanmugapuram while similar protest was organised at Kovilpatti where the DMK cadres stopped the Coimbatore – Nagercoil Passenger Train.
As the Chennai – Thoothukudi Pearl City Express Train reached the destination much beyond the actual timing, the DMK cadres, led by party’s district secretary N. Periasamy blocked the train at Thoothukudi Melur Station.
Due to rail blockade by youth and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam cadre in Dindigul, Madurai and a few other locations, trains services to Kanniyakumari were disrupted since Thursday evening.
According to a release issued by the Thiruvananthapuram Railway Division, the 17236 Nagercoil-Bengaluru Express was partially cancelled between Nagercoil and Tiruchi and 12641 Kanniyakumari-Nizamuddin Express between Kanniyakumari and Tiruchi on Friday.
The stir in Tamil Nadu and rail blockade demanding lifting of the ban on jallikattu have hit long-distance mail and express trains operating to the State. Following the late running of many trains, Friday’s 56043 Guruvayur- Thrissur Passenger and 56044 Thrissur- Guruvayur Passenger were cancelled by Railways.
Railways cancelled Friday’s 56701 Punalur-Madurai Passenger and 56700 Madurai- Punalur Passenger. The 17236 Nagercoil- Bengaluru Express was partially cancelled between Nagercoil and Thiruchirappally and the 12641 Kanyakumari-Nizamuddin Express was partially cancelled between Kanyakumari and Thiruchirappalli.
As the Chennai Egmore Express scheduled to reach Guruvayur in the
morning is running late, the 16128 Guruvayur- Egmore Express scheduled to depart at 9.25 p.m. from Guruvayur will be delayed. Passengers who have reserved tickets for this train for journey between Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram Central on Friday will be provided accommodation on other trains.
As the stir is continuing, the trains operating via Tamil Nadu will also be regulated on Saturday.
