This is very weird. When I traveled in SER section [usually b/w KGP-HWH], the local trains and even express ones like Ispat and Steel were bit punctual and there was little delay if any[like ~15-30 mins at best and that too, post Santragachi]. EMU trains usually ran on time upto SRC. Didn't knew that situation had deteriorated this much.

On the DN side back then, trains very much ran on time too, except when accidents took place. I once missed my connecting train from TATA but that was because an accident had

Late running of trains continues in SER. Just few screenshots. Almost 90% trains all over SER is running late everyday.
Ashwini vaishnav is a totallly failed RM in the history of IR and should be removed immediately.

NI work started from last Saturday. Late running of trains in SER continuing from more than1.5 years. Freight trains given priority over EMU, MEMU, MAIL,EXP, SF, PREMIUM Duronto/Shatabdi trains.
Adra division cancelling pgr carrying trains in the name of development work every week and running freight trains. Very bad condition in SER

Why Railway board never took action for increasing the frequency of this train? Earlier it is the direct train to Varanasi but later during Lalu's time as a RM, this train was forcibly extended to Chhapra in 2008 and many South Indians were protested against this. I saw often this train many spiritual tour operators using this train usually above 50-60 ages for visiting Prayagraj Varanasi for doing Pind Daan, Pitru/Shraddha Karma etc also lots of South people visit this above places. Better SR can run another train to Varanasi via BPQ G NIR JBP route for shortest route if slot is not available and there is not even a daily train to Varanasi to Chennai since ages. Travelling in Sanghamitra/Bagmati/other weekly trains towards Bihar and changing at DDU is quite riskier as from an perspective of South Indian spiritual traveller. My family members (my Dad, Grandmother, my Aunt) etc travelled...

Wow, didn't know about this actually. Thanks for letting me know.

Not surprised since it also has "Ganga" in its name hehe, but it's a good enough extension in my view since Dhanbad is already ignored by ECR because of it's love for Patna, ECR can't wrap it's mind around the fact that Dhanbad is the second biggest city it is serving.

The division itself is uninterested in anything but coal loading. Add to it the statement from our 'highly qualified' RM, they've got a silent nod to overlook the need of people for more freight revenues.

DDU division runs specials from GAYA on the same slot which was denied by ECR HQ stating path constraints. So you can understand what's going on and what's to come.

Deserving stations should get there needs done.I feel pity on big stations and city like Varanasi whose almost many trains got extended recent example BSBS NDLS superfast 2 days currently and Kamayani.There is a sheer neglection by zones and whole Varanasi is divided in these two neglecting zones NR/NER.Varanasi should gets it needs done especially towards Bengaluru /Chennai and surat.

Oh, the plan is simple. Make the route so pathetic that even other zones hesitate to use your route.

An almost straight route through the plains of Northern India, that's been restricted to 100 kmph. And thanks to the DFC like treatment by NR/MB, trains keep stopping every few minutes. And even if your train acheives that ridiculous MPS, it feels like it's going to be your last journey.

And even the Ayodhya wali line has a major bottleneck between Jaunpur and Zafrabad. They can't figure out how to make trains travel 16km from DDU to BSB in less than 1.5 hours. The great Varanasi Smart City Limited and NR have been planning a new bridge for years now because 'बड़ा प्रोजेक्ट है समय लगेगा'.

Everything you've said holds a common consensus around here. But then come NR and it's unions, they'll go to the end of earth to not let that happen, you can see the example of the plan to merge all Prayagraj stations in NCR. All you'll get is pathetic controlling, MPS straight out of 90s, wobbly trains and the typical whataboutism that nothing has been done in the last few millennia.
