Earlier it is the direct train to Varanasi but later during Lalu's time as a RM, this train was forcibly extended to Chhapra in 2008 and many South Indians were protested against this. I saw often this train many spiritual tour operators using this train usually above 50-60 ages for visiting Prayagraj Varanasi for doing Pind Daan, Pitru/Shraddha Karma etc also lots of South people visit this above places. Better SR can run another train to Varanasi via BPQ G NIR JBP route for shortest route if slot is not available and there is not even a daily train to Varanasi to Chennai since ages. Travelling in Sanghamitra/Bagmati/other weekly trains towards Bihar and changing at DDU is quite riskier as from an perspective of South Indian spiritual traveller. Most of the long distance trains were extended and are being extended. NR being the most incompetent zone tries to dump it's trains to other zones, even if politicians aren't interfering.
NER wants to add extra cash to it's pockets by extending trains to it's other stations rather than just being treated as a dumping ground at BSBS/BCY. And that defines today's situation.

LKO NR is specifically one of the worst zone in most of the matters, NER is still okay but never understood why trains which ran full throughout the year were extended, it's just a talk that BSB has gotten soo many trains due to our beloved MP holding the Prime Minister chair. Extension of BSBS-NDLS SF, Ratnagiri (now GKP-LTT SF via MAU), Kamayani, Bapudham SF are prime examples.
DDU is very accessible, I don't think there's much difference between BSB and DDU, urban area wise anyways. The only problem is road...

I don't understand why they're constructing so many pitlines when they don't want to keep any trains at BSB. They've a unique reason to divert or extend every train passing BSB.
NER is already handling most of the trains originating from the city. It's not their fault they want to earn more by extending these trains to their inner stations.

I don't blame NER, at all. NR keeps messing with NER - everywhere you go, be it Varanasi, Prayagraj, Bareilly, Lucknow. NR wants the piece of cake in all of the cities of Uttar Pradesh.
NER is not a huge zone, it barely has 4 very important stations (GKP, LJN, BSBS, CPR) and not many (premium) trains, it's understandable why NER wants to earn more money. Moreover, the management of NER is soo much better than LKO NR, BSB NER has maintained it's stations much better than that of LKO NR...

NR LKO should be merged with NER .NR ko Delhi ke alava kisi se matlab nahi hai.Usse bhi khali karne mai lage rhete hai.
