Why Railway board never took action for increasing the frequency of this train? Earlier it is the direct train to Varanasi but later during Lalu's time as a RM, this train was forcibly extended to Chhapra in 2008 and many South Indians were protested against this. I saw often this train many spiritual tour operators using this train usually above 50-60 ages for visiting Prayagraj Varanasi for doing Pind Daan, Pitru/Shraddha Karma etc also lots of South people visit this above places. Better SR can run another train to Varanasi via BPQ G NIR JBP route for shortest route if slot is not available and there is not even a daily train to Varanasi to Chennai since ages. Travelling in Sanghamitra/Bagmati/other weekly trains towards Bihar and changing at DDU is quite riskier as from an perspective of South Indian spiritual traveller. My family members (my Dad, Grandmother, my Aunt) etc travelled...

in this train. Also need to increase frequency of Kashi Tamil Sangam and Rameshwaram Banaras express as well as there are lot of temples dedicated to Bhagavan Shiva all over Tamilnadu.

Most of the long distance trains were extended and are being extended. NR being the most incompetent zone tries to dump it's trains to other zones, even if politicians aren't interfering.

NER wants to add extra cash to it's pockets by extending trains to it's other stations rather than just being treated as a dumping ground at BSBS/BCY. And that defines today's situation.

BSB direly needs trains for southern states of India, given the amount of pilgrims we receive from there. They simply can't depend on already overcrowded trains coming from Bihar. But our beloved MP loves only to talk, making things happen is not his forte.

DDU is not much far away, it's quite accessible too. But until more public transportation facilities are deployed between BSB/DDU beside the overloaded Vikrams, it'll be a task for non residents. Hope after six-laning of the old GT Road, things will change.

LKO NR is specifically one of the worst zone in most of the matters, NER is still okay but never understood why trains which ran full throughout the year were extended, it's just a talk that BSB has gotten soo many trains due to our beloved MP holding the Prime Minister chair. Extension of BSBS-NDLS SF, Ratnagiri (now GKP-LTT SF via MAU), Kamayani, Bapudham SF are prime examples.

DDU is very accessible, I don't think there's much difference between BSB and DDU, urban area wise anyways. The only problem is road

connecting BSB and DDU and that coal mine like area in between and the fact that many people who are not well aware and are heading towards Varanasi, don't know about DDU and how there's even busier station than BSB in a 20 Kilometre proximity of Varanasi.

I don't understand why they're constructing so many pitlines when they don't want to keep any trains at BSB. They've a unique reason to divert or extend every train passing BSB.

NER is already handling most of the trains originating from the city. It's not their fault they want to earn more by extending these trains to their inner stations.

laugh at every other member talking about so-called political power their MPs have. Talk about the PM, trains keep getting extended from his constituency, which is also a 'tourist' destination. That's what the city has become, no spirituality, only reels and idiocy.

Yeah the road is the problem along with massive traffic jams, I try to avoid Chandhasi whenever I can. If taken that route on a two-wheeler I'll be as clean as a box sitting in a basement for a decade.

So much 'development' and still you'll be welcomed by dust and broken roads whichever direction you want to enter the city from.

I don't blame NER, at all. NR keeps messing with NER - everywhere you go, be it Varanasi, Prayagraj, Bareilly, Lucknow. NR wants the piece of cake in all of the cities of Uttar Pradesh.

NER is not a huge zone, it barely has 4 very important stations (GKP, LJN, BSBS, CPR) and not many (premium) trains, it's understandable why NER wants to earn more money. Moreover, the management of NER is soo much better than LKO NR, BSB NER has maintained it's stations much better than that of LKO NR

- all the district headquaters like Mau, Ballia, Ghazipur, Azamgarh (who are barely situated at 50 to 60 Kilometres from each other) - have their own Washing Pits, Dedicated Trains to the big three - Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and small stations of BSB NER are much better maintained too. Compare that to District Headquater stations that belong to NR like Bhadohi, Pratapgarh, Jaunpur and you'll get the answer.

NR has occupied all three lines in between BSB and LKO, so that it can get all the freight revenue, moreover they had planned to make JOP-SLN-NHH route DFC-lite by diverting non stop trains like Danapur Jansadharan, Rajdhani and Durgiana and they had planned to divert Begampura, Kumbh, Upasana too but these diversions didn't take place because of backlash from the people of SLN route.

Everytime you ask someone that why they're making soo many pits at BSB but extending all the trains, they'll answer "something huge is getting planned for BSB" But that "something huge" is yet to be seen.
